Shri Sushobhan Sarker

Mr. Sushobhan Sarker, Direct Recruit Officer of the Xth Batch took charge as the Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India on 17th February, 2012. Prior to his taking over as Managing Director, he was Executive Director (Strategic Business Unit - International Operations). He has, in a service of over three decades, acquired vast experience and insight into various facets of the financial services industry. Having worked in various parts of the country, his experience spans life insurance marketing and administration as well as investment management, housing finance, mutual funds and portfolio management.

He has worked in LIC and its associate companies in various senior positions including head of the Investment Department of LIC and Director & CEO of LIC Mutual Fund Asset Management Company Ltd. He has a very rich experience of investment management, having worked for many years in this area. He also has knowledge of retail marketing at the grass root level, having worked as Senior Branch Manager and as Senior Divisional Manager In-charge of a Division.

Born on 29th May, 1954, Mr. Sarker is an Honours Graduate in Physics and also holds a Diploma in Management Studies and has a degree of Master of Financial Management from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai.

He is currently on the board of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS) as a nominee of LIC and is a shareholder Director in Corporation Bank.

Mr. Sarker is an avid reader and loves Indian classical Music.
